How much can a bank charge for a wire transfer?

Federal laws do not establish a maximum amount that a bank may charge for wire transfers. The bank decides how much to charge for this service, subject to any state law that may apply.

Banks are required to disclose any fees when the account is established. You should review your account agreement with the bank and any current fee schedules for more information. If you feel that the fees are excessive, you may want to shop around for another bank.
